My partner and I visited Canton on a bit of a nostalgia trip and I remembered Johnnie's off of W Tusc. We stopped by in the early afternoon Mother's Day weekend and by the time we made it, they had already sold out of a lot of their baked goods. Luckily, they still had fun, themed sugar cookies with buttercream frosting, a decent selection of doughnuts, and cream horns. We picked a variety of items to share amongst ourselves and my family. Among the items we selected, the sugar cookies and their icing were rich, decadent treats that were a perfect match for our family time. The chocolate cake doughnut with sprinkles was also a winner in my book. Pricing is very reasonable and the service was outstanding. As far as parking is concerned, there are a few spots on the street and a small lot to the side of the building. I recommend Johnnie's if you're looking for a trip down memory lane and timeless dessert options to satisfy your sweet tooth.

As a kid growing up in Canton, Ohio dad would always stop at Johnnies on the way to church (they used to be open on Sun back then). Since I have been living in California since 1982 there isn't any bakery better than Johnnie's. When I'm in town I always have to go get donuts and cookies from there. In 2018 I was home for my dad's 80th birthday and ordered his cake from there and it was hands down better than any other cake I have ever had. When I was home in 2022 I was going to be flying out early in the morning and wanted to bring some crullers home to California for some of my friends to try and went in the day before because they weren't going to be open when I had to leave for the airport and the gal behind the counter packaged them up each one wrapped in a wax paper to help keep them somewhat as fresh as possible. My friends who got to try them loved them! I will be going home at the end of Dec because my dad turns 85 this year and I will be hitting up Johnnie's to bring back some crullers to California. Every time my brother and I are home at the same time he always goes to Johnnie's and brings back a dozen of the crullers for the family for breakfast. We will probably fighting over to see who is going to get them this Dec when we are both home. They have been in the same building since I was kid, so to most people it doesn't look that great. I'm 60 years old and have been going there since I was a kid. Then moving to California I really have missed being able to go there all the time for donuts, cookies and cakes.

Best donuts in the city! The staff are a bit moody as hell... on a good day, you feel good! On a bad day, take your shit and stay quiet! The taste will make up for the Fuck-Off feeling you leave with! Yes I write REAL REVIEWS!

Johnny's Bakery on Wertz is the best in town! I've had the best cookies and doughnuts from there. But the birthday cakes are the #1 best in the area. Beautifully decorated and great taste! Great value as well! Polite service always. Highly recommended!

Stopped by here right after work (0600 as it was Night Shift) as I'm down in Canton for a work project and there were already 3 people ahead of me right at opening. Everyone was super friendly and it's obvious they have regulars who were also suggesting donuts to try. I got a dozen, highly recommend the maple bacon cream sticks, the crullers (both plain and crunchy topping), and the chocolate peanut butter bomb. The staff is wonderful and you can definitely see why they have regulars, both because of the staff and because of the donuts.

I'm a fan for no other reason than their mini cream filled donuts!! Never before have I seen mini creamed filled donuts. I love them. I visited on a Saturday morning just before 9am. There were plenty of donuts and cookies on the trays. I guess they continue to make donuts through the day or just know how much to make to have them available for most of the morning. I ordered a mini maple and something called "The Bomb," I think. The mini maple is not like a typical cream filled donut because the ratio of dough to cream is much less with the mini maple. The mini maple was very generous with it's iced filling. I would say it's double the portion size compared to the typical creme stick. Much more cream filling in the mini maple. The cream filling was light, very sweet, and creamy. The dough was delicious. That's all I can say. Then I got "The Bomb." I think that's what they called it. It's a chocolate cake donut with chocolate icing and peanut butter on top. If they were located in Columbus, Ohio, it would be called the Buckeye Donut. The cake is not fried. It's dense and somewhat dry and moist at the same time. The size is somewhat smaller than an average size cake donut. It doesn't have much of a center hole at all so it probably has just as much cake as a typical cake donut. "The Bomb" too was delicious. The portion of peanut butter and chocolate icing was not overwhelming. You might need a glass of milk when you get to the center, though, in order to get the peanut butter and cake down to your stomach. The line moved very quickly. This visit took place during Covid19 and from the looks of it they practiced good safe protocols. Every other table in the dining area was blocked. I wish I had better photos but I'm sure you can find some online.
